World AIDS Day

December 1, 2013

December 1 marks the 25th annual observance of World AIDS Day. The theme of this year’s observance is “Shared Responsibility: Strengthening Results for an AIDS-Free Generation.” The wider availability of antiretroviral drugs, promising research on HIV vaccines and on the use of treatment as prevention, and declines in mother-to-child transmission of HIV are examples of how partnerships at home and across the world are bringing the promise of an AIDS-free generation closer.

AIDSinfo’s responsibility in the effort to combat HIV/AIDS includes dissemination of the latest, federally approved HIV/AIDS medical practice guidelines, HIV treatment and prevention clinical trials, and other research information for health care providers, researchers, people affected by HIV/AIDS, and the general public. AIDSinfo information and services are available in English and Spanish via the AIDSinfo and infoSIDA websites, as well as by phone, e-mail, and postal mail.
